Making changes

So I've been hesitant to talk about this, but it has been an issue for most of my life. Simply put, I'm larger than I ought to be. So I finally started to do something about it. Almost 3 weeks ago I joined Weight Watchers, which was very hard for me, because I had this idea that it was for people with kids or people a lot older than me anyway. I still haven't told my mother about it, partly because I want her to notice that I've slimmed down when she next sees me.

So far I've lost almost 7 pounds, which is about 10 percent of the amount that I want to loose. I know this is going to be a long journey and I'm impatient to see the changes. But I've stopped the junk food, I eat lots of carrots and salads and other vegetables and I eat virtually the same amount of fruit as before. I've always been a fruit person.

Along with this I have fitness goals. My current goal is to be able to run a 5k. I started training back in June for this goal, but I was side tracked by my eyes surgery and subsequent ankle injury. I am following a 9 week program called "Couch to 5k"and I have just started week 3 again, so hopefully by the end of November, I'll be able to run 3.1 miles. This is what I'm most excited about. I love to run, but it is hard on me right now. I can't wait until its easier and I can go faster for longer. Its going to be hard but the goal is worth it to me.
